ABOUT

"The original Portuguese was sung by Ms. Franco here as an operatic aria in her highest range. The result was enthralling" - about the World Premiere of Ouvir Estrelas, by R. Paterson - The Classical Music Net, 2017

Praised for the beauty of her timbre, vocal technique, and musicality, Juliana Franco is also known for her versatility in different styles, from the Baroque repertoire and opera to musicals and voice-over studios.

She started her musical studies at the age of six when she joined the choir Meninas Cantoras de Petrópolis. He made her professional debut as a soloist at Don Helder's Symphony of the Two Worlds at the age of 11; since then, music has become an integral part of her life. Ms. Franco has been seen and heard on stages in Brazil, the United States, and Europe.

Parallel to her work in the classical universe, she gives voice to characters from films and cartoons. She is the voice of Anastasia in the Brazilian version of the film and other characters from TV and movies.  Since 2015, she has been a soloist for the Family Project with the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra in adaptations of children's classics for soprano, baritone, and orchestra, such as Arca de Noé (Noah's Ark), Saltimbancos, Balão Mágico, and O Mágico de Oz. "Série em Família" is a very special project dedicated to young audiences (children of all ages).

With a Doctoral degree in Voice Pedagogy and a Master’s in Opera from the University of Maryland in the USA, she has dedicated years to researching the diction of sung Brazilian Portuguese. She performs in recitals and lectures on the subject and promotes Brazilian music and culture worldwide. Notable events include the NATS Conference in Chicago, the 2023 PAVA Symposium in Miami, the 10th ICVT in Vienna, Austria, and the 2024 The Voice Foundation Symposium in Philadelphia, USA.

In January 2025, she will be one of the guests, alongside Prof. Dr. Luciano Simões, on the episode "Brazilian and Portuguese Song: Repertoire, Pedagogy and Diction" of the NATS CHATS series, a podcast from the National Association of Teachers of Singing, hosted and organized by Prof. Dr. Kari Regan, a renowned author and educator.
